Grandson Tommie comforts Wiley
~LOOKING FOR "FOREVER" HOMES~
Wiley the coyote was found by a couple of good samaritans late one evening in June. She was favoring a back leg, so they decided to get her to York Police Dept., who contacted me for help with her rescue. After two weeks of antibiotics, some much needed rest and TLC, I was able to release her at a safe and secluded site near a river. Special thanks to Dr. Tim @ Sullivan Companion Animal Clinic in Aurora for his medical advice and assistance. Cindi Authur, fellow team member with Wildlife Rescue Team, Inc., for sharing her knowledge and to Michelle and Scott Dewey for allowing Wiley to have a safe home back in the wild!

Wildlife Rescue Team is dedicated solely to the rescue and rehabilitation of Nebraska's orphaned and injured wildlife, and its return to its natural habitat. WRT was founded in 1979 in Lincoln, Nebraska. Over the last thirty years, interest in wildlife rehabilitation, and loss of habitat, have created a growing body of knowledge. Working under state and federal permits, WRT is a non-profit, independent, all volunteer organization, made up of caring individuals from all walks of life. They share a common bond, a love and respect for wildlife. WRT members show their concern in a variety of ways, hands-on animal care, transportation, phone duty, public relations, education, cage-building, and fund-raising.

In April of 2011, SEI Millwright Services demolished a building and afterwards, discovered four baby raccoons in the insulation. Knowing that momma would not return once the building was gone, they contacted me for help with the rescue. The little ones were less than a week old, but thrived and grew in leaps and bounds. In early June, the babies were released in a barn owned by a fellow team member, where they will eventually learn to go out on their own in the wild.
Son, Adam meets the babies shortly after they arrive.
